[English] if vs whether

 

if와 whether의 차이점 : if는 명사절(~인지 아닌지)과 부사절(만약 ~라면) 둘다

쓰이는 반면 whether는 명사절로만 쓰인다.

 

1. 명사절로 쓰인경우

    I wonder if(=whether) the reservation was confirmed.

    예약이 확인되었는지 궁금하다.

 

2. 부사절로 쓰인 경우

    If the marketing strategy is approved by the director, the team will proceed with it.

    만약 마케팅 전략이 이사에 의해 승인된다면, 팀은 그것을 진행할 것이다.
